Domestic & Family Violence Counselling

Domestic and Family Violence (DFV)(‘Domestic Violence’) is an insidious and pervasive issue. It can include emotional, psychological, sexual, financial, or physical abuse, all of which strip victims of safety, dignity, and freedom. The impacts are profound and far-reaching, often leaving long-term scars on mental health, physical wellbeing, and relationships. It undermines the very foundation of trust, respect and safety in human relationship, often leaving it’s victim’s feeling like they’re walking on egg-shells or disoriented and destabilised, like they don’t know which was is up.

Domestic and Family Violence can happen to anyone, regardless of background, age, gender, or circumstances. Some may find it hard to believe, but finding yourself in an abusive relationship is never your fault, you have not done anything wrong to “cause” the abuse. The responsibility lies solely with the person choosing to use violence or control. What matters most is knowing that you deserve safety, respect, and support. No level of Domestic Violence is acceptable.

The psychological harm caused by Domestic and Family Violence is often more severe than any physical injuries. Constant fear, intimidation, and coercive control erode a person’s self-worth, leaving deep scars in the form of anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and lasting feelings of shame or helplessness. These impacts can endure long after the violence stops, affecting every aspect of a survivor’s life and relationships.

Find Support Counselling & Coaching specialises in Domestic & Family Violence Counselling. Our practice is informed by extensive frontline experience in responding to Domestic and Family Violence, bringing practical insight, compassion, and down-to-earth methods to our counselling approach. Trauma Counselling

Person sitting on a dark grey couch with hands clasped and elbows on thighs, in a dimly lit room.

Trauma can arise from many experiences, whether a single distressing event or a series of ongoing challenges, that overwhelm a person’s ability to cope. It can result from accidents, loss, violence, abuse, or witnessing events that leave a lasting emotional impact. Regardless of its source, trauma can strip individuals of their sense of safety, control, and stability, often leaving them feeling anxious, disconnected, or on edge. The effects reach deep, influencing thoughts, emotions, and relationships long after the initial event has passed.

Experiencing trauma is never a sign of weakness, and it is never your fault. The body and mind react to overwhelming stress in ways that are protective, even if those reactions can feel confusing or distressing later. What matters most is recognising that healing is possible, and that you deserve understanding, safety, and support as you recover.

The psychological effects of trauma can be wide-ranging and enduring. Survivors may experience anxiety, depression, hypervigilance, sleep disturbances, flashbacks, or emotional numbness. Over time, these can affect confidence, relationships, and overall wellbeing. But with the right guidance and support, it is possible to rebuild trust in yourself and the world around you.

Find Support Counselling & Coaching offers trauma counselling grounded in trauma-informed practice and extensive frontline experience. Our approach combines compassion, practical tools, and evidence-based strategies to help clients process their experiences, regain stability, and move toward recovery. We aim to create a space that feels safe, respectful, and empowering, a place where healing can truly begin

Relationship Counselling

A couple sitting on a rooftop at sunset, surrounded by candles, overlooking a city skyline with a mix of darkening sky and city lights.

Relationships are at the heart of our wellbeing, yet even the strongest connections can experience strain. Miscommunication, unmet needs, conflict, betrayal, or life pressures can leave couples and families feeling distant, frustrated, or disconnected. Over time, these challenges can erode trust and understanding, creating patterns that feel hard to break. Relationship counselling provides a supportive space to explore these issues openly, rebuild communication, and strengthen emotional connection.

Struggling in a relationship does not mean you’ve failed or that it cannot be repaired. Every relationship experiences difficulties, and seeking help is a sign of care and commitment—not weakness. What matters most is the willingness to understand each other’s perspectives and work together toward a healthier, more balanced connection.

Relationship challenges can take a toll on emotional wellbeing, often leading to stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, or feelings of loneliness, even within the relationship itself. Counselling can help couples and individuals identify underlying patterns, learn new ways to communicate, manage conflict, and rebuild trust. Through this process, many people rediscover closeness, respect, and renewed hope for the future.

Find Support Counselling & Coaching offers relationship counselling grounded in empathy, honesty, and practical guidance. Drawing on years of experience in supporting couples and individuals, we create a safe and non-judgmental environment where both voices are heard. Our goal is to help you strengthen communication, deepen understanding, and foster a relationship built on respect, trust, and emotional connection.

Sexual Abuse Counselling

Two people sitting and holding hands, one wearing a denim jacket and gray shirt, the other in black, with a dark background.

Sexual abuse is a deeply harmful, and often hidden, form of violence that can have devastating effects on every part of a person’s life. It can take many forms, including unwanted sexual contact, coercion, harassment, or exploitation. Beyond the immediate violation, sexual abuse strips survivors of safety, dignity, and control over their own bodies. Survivors may be left feeling unsafe, ashamed, or disoriented. The impacts are profound, often leaving long-term scars on mental health, physical wellbeing, and relationships.

Sexual abuse is never the fault of the victim, they never “deserve” or “cause” this to happen to them. The responsibility lies solely with the person who chooses to commit the abuse. What matters most is knowing that you are not alone, that you deserve to be believed, and that you deserve safety, space to heal, and support.

The psychological impacts of sexual abuse are often far-reaching and long-lasting. Survivors may experience anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, flashbacks, and difficulties with trust or intimacy. These effects can persist long after the abuse ends, influencing self-worth, relationships, and daily life. Healing takes time, but it is possible with the right support.

Find Support offers sexual abuse counselling, informed by specialist investigative training in sexual abuse and over a decade of frontline experience in responding to sexual abuse. This background provides a unique understanding of both the immediate and long-term impacts of sexual abuse, as well as the sensitivity and care required to support survivors. Our approach combines compassion, practical strategies, and trauma-informed care to create a safe space where survivors can begin to rebuild trust, restore a sense of control, and move toward healing.
